“We need to go out” is the buzz word by on lips of my black eighteens gang, the late eighties and seventies gang be it they are broke, single or married. I asked myself in these hard economical times why is it that we not saving but rather blowing our last cent. Why are holiday destinations booming and liquor joints and clubs keep popping up every corner. Every weekend I see women are dressed to the nines make up and nails on point to some outing. I am reminded in the book of 1 Kings chapter 17 vs 12 of the words of widow in Zarephath unto the prophet Elijah. She said. “Surely as the Lord your God lives, I do not have any bread, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a small meal for myself and my son that we could eat and die”
Displeased with Ahab, God had caused a drought to befall his children. The situation was dire and the brook that fed the prophet Elijah had also dried out. Word had come to him to go to this widowed women house however when he got there he had found her in this state that she was prepared for nothing but to die. It is possible she had gone through everything in her fields, borrowed what she could from her neighbors and was a stage of acceptance to what she now believed was her fate.
I asked myself if it is possible that we too could be in her era? Are we behaving the way we are because we feel anyway we are doomed and so we wanna exit in grand style. Are we quickly trying to tick some items on our bucket list in hope we could have peace upon our death? Is it possible that we dealing with so many troubles and is it our hope that in going away we take our problems with us and they wont be there when we come back.
Seeing that these gateways really don’t solve much of our problems shouldn’t we perhaps try an inward approach. I mean how many times have we gone out only to return upset because so and so didn’t comment on on our dress or perhaps your hair was made fun off. Don’t you think its perhaps time we go inside ourselves and find out who we are first so don’t spend our days running around like headless chickens?
In a quest to feel the void within our souls the bible says “Seek ye first the Kingdom and all the other things things shall be added unto you” Matthew 6.33. We are told to seek and in Matthew 7.7 we are promised to find. “Seek ye first” a verse that became the DNA an answer to bettering my life. Find yourself first, the Kingdom and all other things shall be added. Determine who you are.
It is with caution that I urge you in exercising this approach to not be driven to be less considerate of others. a common phrase in the world by the millenniums is “Do you boo”. I am in no way contradicting the bible in its teaching of denying self to carry the cross. In Matthew 16:26 the bible says “He who saves his life shall lose it and whom who loses his life for my sake him shall I say” and so I am being careful in not calling people to self service but to an understanding of who they I so they could seek the kingdom having established themselves.
Before baking a baker would first decide on what cake to make before gathering the ingredients. If it is a chocolate or vanilla and they well chose the ingredients depending on what they decided. “Seek he first” Now as we have established in seeking you will find. And depending on what you find you will either be broken by the process or it will make you. My advise invite the holy spirit to be with you.
They may be things about yourself you will hate, things which maybe really do not bother you but because society has taught you they are bad you begin to hate them you too. You might discover things that you like about yourself and also they may be things that will not sit well with you which would be hard to process. You may for example discover that you were born out of rape. You may find your attracted to the same sex however your background ground may make it hard to live your truth. You may not like your physical appearance and they could be things about you that would make you wish you could just die.
We have seen people losing themselves to promiscuous behavior and abusing substances. It is possible most of the time they are attempting to numb the realty of what they found about self. Finding yourself can be a difficult journey as what society might view as bad you might as good meaning you have to work on the courage to stand ground as you swim against the tide. And so while this can be texting process there is loads of benefits to it.
Benefits to self seeking
You became less bothered of what people say about you,You understand the positions you hold in people’s lives for example if a person sees you just as a colleague, you act accordingly and do not have expectations further than work.
you a not easily swayed from your opinion. In fact you are able to stand your ground
you ooze confidence and are at peace. Others my go out and did not invite you, well it was for the best they had good reason. You posted them they did not post you, its fun perhaps they forgot, perhaps maybe they dont feel you as much as you feel them its fine as long as you happy with how they make you feel
You be better able to manage your expectations. Meaning you do not go about imposing yourself and expecting others to reciprocate.
And so what if your mother hates you because you were forced on her, well you develop understanding and in time peace that surpasses all understanding. lessen burdens, stems also from understanding positions, less anxious relate better to others. When you know your truth, and begin living it you less fearful of judgements. You able to excuse your self from others and do not make commitments only to break them later which may render you a bad person to relate with. You seek the Kingdom with a purpose and as a plus you are edified. If you are a vanilla cake, vanilla is added unto you not cocoa.
The widowed women at Zeraphath was ready to die. But because she humored Elijah she was saved, not only did she have enough to eat but she had enough for days and perhaps even to start a business.
My Dear beloveds, I come to you today like prophet Elijah, to encourage you to seek yourselves, the Kingdom so all other things may be added onto you. Humor me and I bet you, the next time you go out it wont be a gateaway but however a vacation, for there would be nothing to getting away from but a short break to fulfill yourself.
Do you wanna know how I found myself. Check out the link the one that was born, died and resurrected. and if you do humor me, let me know how it goes.
